Bread in a Flower Pot!

Bread in a flower potDo you remember when I went to Terrain and posted this picture of our lunch? As soon as we saw it, my Mom and I were talking about how we could make this at home.  And it’s really easy!

You obviously want to start with a new flower pot- one that hasn’t been treated in any way.  I think the pot I used is about 4 or 5 inches.  To season the flower pot, coat it in butter (inside and out), and place it on a baking sheet in the oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes (do this twice).  This is to make it non-stick and it’s the same process as seasoning a cast iron pan.

When your pot has been prepared, here’s the easy part! I swear the exact bread that they give you at Terrain is the frozen Bridgford brand you can get at any grocery store.  It comes in the freezer section as 3 loaves per package.  And one loaf fits perfectly in the pot.  Follow the package directions and once it has risen, place it in your pot.  Bake as directed, but don’t be afraid of a darker outside because the inside takes a little longer to cook.

Terrain bread at homeI think this is such a cute project for spring and would make a nice gift for someone to celebrate the new season!
